Oouso Swing is a short shoujo manga with a ‘theme’ of lies.
Genres: Comedy, One Shot, Romance, School Life, Slice-of-Life, Shoujo
My Rating: 6
Mangaka: Tsujita Ririko
Description: Shirose Sayo was always interested in Saeki Aoi because she thought he was mature and different from other guys. When graduating middle school, Shirose’s image of Saeki was shattered, and she realized that he wasn’t as mature as she had thought. Now, a year later, Shirose accidentally meets Saeki again in a goukon*. As the two they manage to clear up their misunderstanding and befriend each, Shirose finds out that Saeki has a crush on his old tutor, who also happens to be Shirose’s older brother’s girlfriend. With this strange complication, what will happen to Saeki and Shirose’s emotions?
– Goukon means blind date (with a group of girls and a group of boys).
– The ending was disappointing. I wish this manga continued. It wasn’t bad, and I wanted to know what would happen next. Unfortunately, it just stopped at where it did :/ As expected of one shots…
– Tsujita Ririko is also the mangaka of Koi Nashi Ai Nashi and it’s continuation Koi Dano Ai Dano. I like her work and her characters. They’re not bad.
– To write this post, I re-read this manga, and I was surprised. I had always remembered that I had read a manga that said ‘everyone tells lies,’ but I couldn’t remember which manga it was. Turns out it’s this manga. I should have figured from the word ‘Oouso’ meaning lie.
